Epaphras
New Age composer and recording artist
Epaphras is Michael J. Mangieri, a solo synth artist specializing in soft, spacey, warm synth compositions. Born in NYC in 1953, now a resident of Reisterstown, MD., Michael, or “Mikey” to his closest friends, took the name Epaphras as his web presence in his music creations from the friend of the apostle Paul, found in the Bible, book of Colossians 1.
Epaphras started playing the accordion (yes the accordion) back in the 60s and he still does! He started a couple of short-lived rock bands in the 70s where he played an electric accordion (he actually took his acoustic accordion and added pickups and other electronics to allow it to operate with an amplifier) and Farfisa organ. Married life took most of his time through the late 70s and 80s when he finally returned to music in the early 90s after purchasing a Roland D-20. Soon after he added a Roland JV-1000 Workstation (one of the few who actually has one!) and released his first CD, Cosmic Visions, in 2000 on MP3.com.
Epaphras now owns a Roland Fantom X7, FA-07 and a FR-8X digital accordion.
Epaphras completed his last CD, titled “In The Mind’s Eye”, back in 2010. He is now working on his third album, ‘Antares Rising’ after a long hiatus.
All his music is available for digital download on most online music services as well as on this website.
